3/17  Happy St. Patrick's Day!  It is so weird, usually, we have no real idea of what day it is.  We have to relate it to something that has already happened.
Last night was so fun.  We left at 11pm to walk the 12 blocks to the Hotel San Martin, where they have live music.....yup, tango included.  All six of us walked over to the beach area, where the hotel is.  Maria and her husband went right back home.  He was not feeling well.  Anyway, we went in and sat at a table and ordered some drinks, mango pisco sours, of course.  The music was great.  They played all kinds of latin music, salsa, mambo, tango, cha cha, etc.  The guys didn't want to dance, so G and I did. We watched the others and tried to copy.  Fun.  It was just as much fun watching all the couples.  We stayed for a couple of hours.  On the way out, I went over to a couple that I thought was exceptionally good, and said in spanish "usted esta muy bueno",  hopeing it was "you are very good".  He then says in english, thank you.  Funny, huh?  I asked if I said it correct and he said yes.  Not sure if he was just making me feel good, or if he meant that he knew what I was trying to say.
We walked back and got home at 1:30am.  Right to bed.

This morning we decided to go to church with Maria and Andrew.  Of course, we walked the same 12 blocks.  It was more a cathedral than a church.  Beautiful, with a tiled center aisle.  Weird though how people came late, left early and went to confession during the middle of mass.
It sounded beautiful.  Echoing, and the language.  Even though I didn't understand 99% of it, I really enjoyed it.  We went up to communion, but it is very random.  People just get up and go.  No orderly lines.

We are now in the computer room of the apartment building, checking on wine tours.  They are very expensive, so we are not sure we are going to go.
This afternoon, it is to the beach.  Laying on the sand and listening to the waves of the Pacific, sounds wonderful.
We will see what we are going to do tonight and tomorrow.
The beach was amazing. Nice and warm and super big waves, but very, very cold. T and I went for a really quick dip, just to say we swam in the Pacific. I waited for a lull in the waves, ducked down to my neck and stood up. So proud of myself for outsmarting the waves. So, I turned around and started walking out of the water when a super wave hit me from behind. I saw it at the last minte, ducked, got a mouth full of water and was completely under.  Sputtering I came up and T and I RAN out of the water and up the beach. G was laughing so hard. She said that I should have seen the look on my face right before the wave hit me. She said the wave was at least a foot higher than me. Water can be so powerful and scarry. That is why we didn't go in at the dunes, but we thought it was much calmer here. Goes to show you how fast it can change.
Got back home about 7:30 and B was making dinner. G and B don't really like to just lay so they left for a walk a couple of hours earlier.
Tonight we finished planning the next town, La Serena.  Tomorrow, more beach and the horse races. The track is just a couple of blocks from here. We will have a nice dinner and then get on a bus at 11:15pm. A sleeper bus again. I really like them. We arrive at 6am to start our next adventure.
